The Detroit Card Co. is a Michigan gift and paper goods company combining sweet graphics and spirited messages as a refreshing alternative to the sentimental greeting card. All items are designed and produced by owner Genna Cowsert, and copy is sourced from a handful of contributors, most notably author and improvisor Cara Trautman, who helped found the company in 2014. The Detroit Card Co. offers a variety of witty and handsome wares in addition to our full greeting card line, including art prints, mugs and magnets. We hope you enjoy our products as much as we enjoy making them!
I am so honored to have been a part of the first Detroit Gets Married event which took place at the Jam Handy in Detroit on March 19, 2016! Organized by Kyle Trombley of Kyle Ann Design, Detroit Gets Married is an alternative wedding event — instead of vendors in booths, it's a mock wedding reception! I designed the event poster and invitation suite, as well as day-of signage and paper goods. View more photos on the blog.

This is a custom mid-century modern save the date and wedding invitation I designed last year for the now Mr. and Mrs. Lark. They were such a pleasure to work with and it was a wonderful experience turning their vision into a suite that I am very proud of. This dreamy design was brought to life on savoy cotton paper with matte gold foil and dove gray envelopes. I also designed matching day-of pieces including table numbers, posters, place cards and plate cards for their gorgeous wedding at the Gem Theatre.
I had the honor of contributing the invite design and paper goods to this fun styled shoot, Bohemian Meets Geometric. View more photos on the blog.
I had the pleasure of designing the event postcard for the Third Annual Midtown Literary Walk.
This Detroit Card Co. kids' stationery design is for sale on Minted.com. Copy by Cara Trautman.
Heirloom Bloom is a save the date design in my wedding collection. There is a version with a photo and a version without. Both feature a matching French Paper Co. pink lemonade square flap envelope. Available at www.gennacowsert.etsy.com.

I had the pleasure of working on the logo for Lady Lazarus, a concept store in The Rust Belt Market in Ferndale. The logo was designed to also work as a die-cut tag for labeling the products in the boutique. Owner Tiffany Best replicated the angle of the logo on the floor of the shop leading you into the space and tying everything together.
This black bear illustration was applied to a notebook design that is being sold on Minted.com.
These are some of the designs that I developed for the Detroit Historical Society Ball while working for Trent Creative.
This moving announcement design for Minted came in 2nd place out of over 700 entries. It is available in several colorways and die-cut shapes, with a matching thank you card: www.minted.com
I had the pleasure of designing my best friend's book-themed baby shower invites and matching bookplates using my hand-lettering and illustration. I then applied the design to a birth announcement design that is available on Etsy: www.etsy.com
On the Market
I had the honor of designing the event postcard for the annual Made in Michigan Writers Series spring celebration, "On the Market," presented by Wayne State University Press.
